A scorecard gives interviewers a shared structure for recording what they heard. It is most useful when criteria and rating anchors are agreed before interviews begin.
The accompanying builder produces a blank review template. It does not evaluate candidates automatically or establish that the interview process is validated.
Choose criteria that match the role
Use a manageable set of distinct criteria tied to the work. Write what a useful answer would demonstrate and identify any requirement that needs a separate assessment.
- Ask the same core question for the same criterion across the process.
- Separate evidence notes from interpretation.
- Avoid criteria based on resemblance to the interviewer or irrelevant personal characteristics.
Agree rating anchors
| State | Meaning | Reviewer action |
|---|---|---|
| Not assessed | The interview has not supplied sufficient evidence | Leave it unscored and record the missing information |
| 1–2 | Limited evidence against the agreed criterion | Record the supporting observation and any uncertainty |
| 3 | Evidence meets the agreed description | Explain how the response relates to the criterion |
| 4–5 | Strong evidence against the agreed description | Record the specific example rather than a general impression |
Use a concrete question and follow-up
For a planning role, a criterion could be explaining a trade-off under a deadline. A question might ask the candidate to describe a time they had to choose between two competing priorities.
A useful note records the situation, the candidate's own action and the outcome they described. A follow-up can ask what evidence informed the choice. A label such as excellent communicator without an example is harder for another reviewer to assess.
Review differences and unresolved evidence
Keep individual notes available before discussing a shared decision. When reviewers disagree, compare the evidence and rating anchors rather than averaging away the disagreement.
The builder reports coverage separately from any mean rating. An unassessed criterion is excluded from that mean and remains visible. Exported files stay on the device unless the user chooses to share them.
